Margaret, 73, was diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration two years ago. For the first six months she barely left the house.
"I stopped cooking. I stopped watching telly. I stopped everything," she says. "I didn't know who to call or where to go."
Then a leaflet came through the door about WDSA's Tuesday coffee morning at Wakefield Centre. She almost didn't go.
"I said to myself, 'what's the point?' But something made me get the bus."
Now Margaret rarely misses a Tuesday. She's made friends, learned about a new magnifier app, and connected with a volunteer who helps with her weekly shopping.
